My Yoyo

I have to tell you how much I love this cat. She is the sweetest thing ever! She sits in my lap when I am working, sleeps beside me when I sleep, waits beside the shower till I am done and has even made “friends” with Samson and Fifi! When Princess finally comes around it will be a perfect family! Jim is slightly jealous of the attention Yoyo has been getting, so tonight I have a special dinner planned for him. The “kids” are on their own. :)

Some Days are Better Than Others

After my wonderful report on Princess and Yoyo I thought things were finally on the upswing. Until, yesterday! It was a nonstop fight all over the house. I could not keep them away from each other. It was almost comical. That or I was close to exhaustion. :) Fifi and Samson slept on the back porch last night. They simply would not come inside with the fighting cats. Was it fear? Or was it they had enough sense to stay out of this cat fight? I think next time Fifi and Samson sleep outside, I am staying with them.

Another Day

Another day has passed and I think that Princess and Yoyo are finally at ease with other. They actually ate beside each other and did not hiss or claw at each other. Hopefully by the end of the week they will be ready for a short road trip.

Yoyo and Princess

Princess and Yoyo had their first spat today. It scared me to death. All of a sudden I heard hissing and growling and “screaming”. I am glad to report no one was hurt. I know that this is all part of the pecking order process, but I don’t like it at all. I hope they get things settled before our next trip.

Yoyo

So far so good. I am completely in love with my new “baby”. Princess, however, is not very impressed and she keeps a very close eye on Yoyo. Samson and Fifi seem very indifferent. I think she will stay mine, she stays clear of Jim for some reason. Possibly because she can smell Princess? I have already started Yoyo on leash training. She is not very happy about the whole thing!

My New Baby

So I made a choice, and I am now the proud mom of a 6 month old cat! She is beautiful! Yoyo has long hair and tabby markings with a cute little white face. I saw her and fell in love. She and Princess have seen each other, but have not been introduced. I am very nervous about it because I really want them to get along.

Shopping for Kitty

Before I finally pick MY cat, I decided to be ready before he or she comes home. I went today and got another kitty litter pan, a food bowl and water bowl, another cat bed and some kitty toys. I am holding off on getting the food until I know for sure if I want a kitten or an older cat. This is all very exciting for me. Wonder if this is what it will be like if Jim and I ever have a baby?

Shelters

I have been to a couple of shelters nearby and been in contact with the Humane Society and I want them all. There are so many animals that need homes. It is going to be hard to decide on just one. I think I am leaning more towards a long haired cat, but I have seen some beautiful calicos. Maybe, I need two cats?

I Miss MY Cat

I miss having a cat of my own! So much so that I am considering expanding the family by one more. I don’t want a kitten, but I don’t want Princess to feel as if she is being “replaced” either. I have never introduced another cat into the mix so if anyone has any tips, please feel free to share. Thanks in advance! :)

Our Adventures Traveling With Our Pets

null

I have a lot of friends with children, and they always make the assumption that traveling is so much easier for my husband and I because we don’t. How little they know! You see, Jim (my husband) and I have pets: two dogs and two cats, to be precise. We also travel a lot, which means that our dear little Fifi, Samson, Princess and our newest baby Yoyo, travel with us.

The first thing we did was figure out all the rules and regulations of pet travel. We’ve done our fair share of online research over the last few years. That’s why I’ve put together a handy online pet travel resource guide which I use again and again to plan our pet travel adventures.

Of course, even after using these resources and buying the right travel equipment, traveling with your pets will be fraught with difficulties. We discovered this through trial and error. You’ve got to be prepared for the realities of pet travel!

You also have to know what you’re going to do if there is a situation where you can’t take the pets with you (out to a restaurant for a dinner for two, for example!) This means plenty of forward planning and a bit of patience too! 

I hope you enjoy reading about our travel adventures with our pets. Please feel free to come back often and to share your comments and pet travel adventures with us!

For your convenience, we can also email you our latest updates! As a “thank you” gift for signing up for our email updates, we will send you a FREE copy of our BEST OF THE WEB Pet Travel Resource Resources. To get your FREE copy, click here!

We would love to hear about your travel adventures with your pets! Thank you for visiting our blog and feel free to share your pet travel tips and pet travel “tails” with us.

Fifi

In all my fear of the snake, and my new found friendship with Princess, Fifi has been feeling left out. For the past two days she has not left my side for more than a few minutes at a time. I love her so very much. I feel very guilty now that I realize I was almost completely ignoring her. Tomorrow I think Fifi and I will have to take an afternoon walk. Just the two of us.

Bed & Breakfasts That Welcome Four Legged Guests

As you know Jim and I have already stayed in a bed and breakfast with our babies and had a wonderful experience. But for those of you considering it, I thought this article may be useful. (more…)

Let’s Celebrate

The snake is gone! Princess and I are finally free of him! Jim has never laughed so hard at me before. I think it was the fact that I would come out from behind the door until the snake was COMPLETELY out of sight and on his way down the road. I hope that Princess had bonded with me, I will be so heartbroken if she still loves Jim the most.

Good News for Me

Seems that Jims friend will be home tomorrow. Goodbye snake! I am so happy that I dance and jumped around so much I scared poor Fifi to death!

A Day of Pampering

Today I took all the babies to the groomer. They got bathed, clipped and massaged! Fifi and Princess even got bows in their hair (fur)! They all looked so beautiful, I took them to have a “family” photo taken. I get the proofs Monday!

Princess and I

I must report that the snake, Biggie is his name, is still here. I feel no better about it than I did the first day. The really positive thing is that Princess and I are now the BEST of friends. I am sure that anyone out there who has ever had a cat knows that the cat is the one who decides who he or she belongs to. Jim has always been her human, until now. We have read together, worked together, shopped together and she is the best company while I cook. (I suspect this is due to the fact that I always seem to drop a piece of whatever I am making.) I hope that once the snake is gone that Princess wants to keep me…..
